has anyone else noticed that a lot of "found" symmetries in nature are just rotational at some specific order n, and if so, is there a decent rule-of-thumb for guessing n from the silhouette alone? i've been staring at leaves for an hour.
obviously snowflakes are six, starfish are five, but what about less obvious ones? like the way a pinecone's scales sit.
phyllotaxis is the usual rabbit-hole for pinecones - the scales aren't really rotationally symmetric at any integer n, they sit on two interlocking fibonacci spirals (8 and 13 is common). the "n-fold" impression you get at a glance is an averaging artefact.
rule-of-thumb i use: if counting arms gives you a fibonacci number, it's probably spirals, not rotation.

the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. to the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.

we use a single session cookie to keep you logged in and a preference cookie for your theme and timezone. we do not use third-party analytics or tracking cookies.
passwords are stored as salted hashes. traffic is encrypted in transit. access to the production environment is limited to the operator. we will notify affected members within 72 hours of confirming a data incident that affects them.

after the most recent loader update the injector finishes its work but the game crashes on map load with no visible overlay. fresh install, drivers up to date, no overlay apps running.
